Colin Thorpe
Colin practises in litigation of all kinds, with a bias towards those where scientific literacy or numeracy offers an advantage. He is recognised by instructing solicitors for his ability to make hard calls and stand behind them with rigorous legal and factual analysis. This often assists clients to arrive at workable settlement proposals at an early stage.
Colin’s scientific background means he has real-world data analysis and mathematical capabilities that are uncommon in the legal profession. He applies these skills broadly across his practice, particularly in technically complex disputes. Scientific training in the clear presentation of facts is valuable in any matter: whether because a fast grasp of the facts provides an early negotiating advantage; or results in a clearer presentation of those facts at trial. Before studying law, Colin was an ecologist engaged in scientific research as well as fauna and flora survey work.
