Francis Burt Chambers’ Sports and Entertainment area has been well represented by Venetia Bennett, Anthony Crocker and Blake Primrose at the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association Annual Conference held this week in Sydney.
Venetia Bennett – an inaugural member of the National Sports Tribunal and an Executive Committee Member of the World Anti-Doping Agency – was on today’s conference programme as the arbitrator in an entertaining mock NST arbitration that used allegations of prohibited conduct by a coach to demonstrate the NST’s procedures.
A working knowledge of the sport of Quidditch (familiar to any Harry Potter devotee) was helpful, but not necessary to share insights into how NST arbitrations are used to resolve disputes in the Australian sports industry.
